Start with a racket that helps you

The right first racket makes learning padel a lot more fun. Beginner rackets are designed to be forgiving: a rounded head puts the sweet spot right in the centre where you'll naturally make contact, the weight is kept manageable so it's easy to swing all game, and a softer feel takes the sting out of off-centre hits. In short, they make the ball easier to control while you're still finding your technique.

What to look for

  • Round shape for the biggest, most central sweet spot.
  • Lower weight and balance so the racket feels light and easy to manoeuvre.
  • A softer core for comfort and forgiveness on mishits.

When to upgrade

There's no rush. A good beginner racket will see you through your first months and beyond. Once you're playing regularly, hitting the middle more often and starting to want more power or control, that's the sign you're ready to look at an intermediate frame.

Hand-checked, with easy returns

Every racket is inspected before listing, and if your choice doesn't feel right when you play, you've got 14 days to send it back. New to it all? The racket finder will narrow things down in a couple of minutes.

What players are saying

Finally a UK shop that actually inspects rackets before they ship.

Had two rackets sitting in a cupboard doing nothing. Listed them through Padel Marketplace, both gone within a fortnight and the money landed in my account not long after.

Honestly had no idea what racket to get as a beginner, there's so many. Did the little quiz on the site and it recommended a few in my budget which made it way less overwhelming. Went with the one it suggested and a month in I'm really happy with it.

I check the tournaments list on here most weeks to see what's on near me. It's actually kept up to date, which you can't say for a lot of these things, found a couple of local comps I'd have otherwise missed.
Liam C.Player, Stockport
I was a bit skeptical purchasing a used racket. I saw a racket I've wanted after research online but sold out everywhere. Padel Marketplace had a used like new listing and I thought why not and when it came, it really did look brand new i couldn't even tell. Highly recommend.
Helena R. Player, We Are Padel Hackney
Ordered a pair of padel shoes on the Thursday and they turned up Saturday morning, didn't expect them that quick. Was between two sizes but the returns were easy so I sized up and sent the others back no hassle. Be back for a racket soon.
Daniel O.Player, Game4Padel Edinburgh
Picked up a used Adidas off here for about half what it'd cost new and you genuinely can't tell it's been used. The condition notes were honest about a tiny mark which I appreciated, turned out you could barely see it. Saved me a fortune.
Tom B.Player, We Are Padel Reading
Sent in my old Bullpadel I no longer used, the owner talked to me and gave me advice on valuation and I found it really helpful. The racket sold within ten days and I got paid out few days later.
Marcus T.Coach, LTA Stockport
Used the book a coach bit to sort a couple of lessons before a tournament. Booking was straightforward and the coach was spot on, sorted my backhand out in two sessions.
